Bringing Animal Reports to Life with Keynote and Animal Safari

To make traditional animal reports more engaging, I designed interactive Keynote templates for students to research, create, and share their learning in a creative, multimodal way.

Students use the templates to:

  • Find and insert images that represent their animal’s habitat, diet, and unique traits.
  • Draw and label parts of their animal directly within Keynote using the drawing tools.
  • Add voice recordings to explain what they’ve learned—bringing their research to life through their own narration.

As a fun extension, we paired the “About the Author” page with Animal Safari, allowing students to take a side-by-side photo with the AR version of the animal they studied. This created an authentic and joyful way to celebrate their work!

After seeing incredible success with K–1 learners, I created a version for grades 2–5 as well, offering age-appropriate scaffolds for both early writers and upper elementary researchers.

To share with parents, we exported these as movies to publish and showcase the great things students both learned and created.

These templates empower students to explore, create, and share in ways that connect technology, creativity, and content learning. Check out the templates and try pairing them with Animal Safari to transform your next animal research project!

Oh my goodness, Tanya! What a fantastic way to reimagine animal research projects! I love how your Keynote templates invite students to show their understanding through images, drawing, and voice - making learning both creative and deeply personal. Pairing it with Animal Safari adds such a joyful, immersive layer of connection between students and the animals they study. ⭐️ LOVE! Thank you for sharing these awesome Keynote templates - definitely sharing with my staff!
