As apart of the scaffolded workbooks I create for my students, I utilise the animated drawing feature in Pages. These diagrams help students visually understanding complex ideas and processes, making abstract concepts tangible. They can watch the drawings unfold in real-time, almost like the teacher is drawing alongside them, which makes following processes much easier, whether they are absent or revising.
Students then add voice recordings to the drawing to explain the concept, such as nerve impulses, in their own words.
My Year 12 students don't have iPads, but if they did, they could draw these animated drawings themselves. A very useful feature for many science concepts.
