(Editable Teacher Version + Student-Safe Locked Version Included)
I created this interactive Geography Atlas in Apple Pages for my first-grade class as part of our mapping and community unit. The design uses a spiral-notebook style layout with explorer-themed icons, photo placeholders, and simple prompts to help young learners understand:
- The continent we live on
- The country we live in
- Our state
- The school town
- Their own hometown (for students who live in different communities)
- Their favorite place in the community
- A final fun fact reflection page
This Pages template is designed to be kid-friendly, visually engaging, and easy to use—especially for early learners who benefit from clean layouts and guided prompts.
✏️ What’s Included
I’m sharing two versions of the template:
1️⃣ Teacher Version (Editable)
- All backgrounds, shapes, and layout elements can be edited or adjusted
- Customize prompts, text, colors, icons, and map areas
- Great for adapting to different grade levels or communities
2️⃣ Student Version (Locked Background)
- Background images and graphics are fixed
- Students can only edit
- Drawing areas
- Photo placeholders
This prevents accidental movement of layout elements and makes it easier for young students to work independently on iPad.
📸 Photo Placeholders – How Students Will Use Them
Each page includes simple photo placeholder boxes.
For our project, students will:
- Open the Maps app on their iPad
- Search for their town, school, or favorite place
- Take a screenshot of the map view
- Insert the screenshot into the placeholder by tapping Replace
This adds a real-world digital-mapping component and helps students connect their atlas pages to actual map locations.
