Using IPad & Pages to Engage Learners with Atlas Learning - The Olympics

As part of our STEAM, we have been learning about the Olympics. STEAM learning often creates more questions than it answers; most of these questions were geographical. To ignite their curiosity, we took a blank map and a list of Olympic host countries and created a very mundane-looking Pages document. With support from a good old-fashioned atlas ("what you used in the olden days before maps!"), learners used smart annotations to locate and label the countries on a map.

A very simple task was made more joyful and engaging through the introduction of an iPad. Learners were enagged and excited to bring life to their documents.

It’s always engaging to get students involved in learning about events in the news - especially in social studies. And I love the way iPad helps with that engagement and interactivity! Thanks for the post!
