Why I Designed It This Way
The main idea behind this lesson is that technology should support the learning experience, not replace the teacher or the pupils’ thinking.I used different digital and creative tools for different purposes:
🎬 Flow AI — to create a short attention-grabbing video for the Engage stage.
📄 Apple Pages — to design the lesson journey, food activities and Healthy Plate template.
🧠 5E Framework — to structure the lesson from curiosity to exploration, understanding, application and reflection.
💬 5W Questions — to encourage pupils to ask and answer meaningful questions throughout the lesson.
I also use apple devices in creating my lesson design such as Keynote, Freeform, Augmented Reality, Sketchfab and ElevenLabs.
This lesson is designed using a few combination of Apple devices which helped me turn a familiar topic such as food into a student-centred English learning experience.
What I particularly like about this approach is that pupils are given multiple opportunities to use English naturally — while watching, discussing, classifying, designing, presenting and reflecting.
For me, “Eating Right” is not only a lesson about food. It is an opportunity to teach pupils how to communicate, collaborate, think critically and make informed choices.
My hope is that other teachers can take this simple structure and adapt it to their own topics. The technology can change, the activities can change, and the resources can change — but the learning journey remains:
Engage → Explore → Explain → Elaborate → Evaluate
Most importantly, I want my pupils to leave the classroom not only knowing more English vocabulary, but also thinking:
“I can use what I learn in English to make better choices in my everyday life.”
