Rekindling the Learning Flame: My journey back to an iPad-infused Classroom
Sophie Bennet (Year 2 Teacher, Floreat Park Primary School) shares her journey at the #WATechTalk in using iPad to help teach her students Forces in Physical Sciences. Sophie took the audience on a self development journey as she shared how she learned to use iPad as a tool for creation as opposed to consumption. Using Keynote, Sophie built a scaffold for her students teaching them how to take good photos, add text and complete audio recordings. The students then saved their Keynote as a movie and uploaded it to Seesaw for grading and to share with parents. Some of Sophie’s students who are not confident writers were able to share their learning of Forces through accessing the camera and audio recordings. Sophie’s key takeaway was that early childhood students are more capable than you think. When given the opportunity, the results is engaged students and deeper, richer learning.
