Building Shapes

To further explore buildings using our Project Based Learning approach students worked on building shapes with popsicle sticks! Using the Promethean Board via the Whiteboard feature, I drew multiple shapes. I gave each student six colored popsicle sticks to recreate the shape that I drew. Students were able to create a square, triangle, and rectangle on their own. One student realized they could add a roof (triangle) to the top of their square to make a house. Each student was able to copy the simple shapes which helped them draw their own house design the next day. This furthered our learning for our PBL study, while also enforcing some shape knowledge for our documentation. Students enjoyed this simple task immensely!

This looks like such a great challenge-based learning activity with such a simple but effective prompt! Great work, Katie!
