Coding a roadtrip with Indi and Apple Music

A couple of weeks ago students were learning about places in Geography.

Why? It was a good way to introduce beginner coding alongside a class topic.

Students used Apple Maps to discover 3D/2D locations and experience flyovers.

We discovered the different cities we visited on the flyovers (Sydney, Cork, Edinburgh, Paris etc) and compared the building types, whether there were rivers and bridges, and what foods might be eaten in those countries.

After this they did some basic directions forward (North), back (South), right (East), left (West).

Before we took a road trip around a floor sized map of Ireland students created a class playlist in Apple Music so that they could play their favourite music while they coded the Indi cars around the country.

Fun travel activity. I couldn't help but to zoom in on their favorite music playlist. Going to check some of those artists out that I'm not familiar with. 😁🎶

I wouldn't have expected any different from your. Their class anthem is Green Green Grass by George Ezra.

🥳 Well, isn't that a catchy little tune! Thanks for the ear worm - I'll be singing that chorus all evening. It would be a great tune for Eoin's REAMIX Vol. 2. 🎹
