I was looking for a project for my Reception class (ages 4-5 in their first year of school) for our digital image unit this half term and the new Everyone Can Create Early Learners projects landed just in time for my planning!
Express Your Emotions with Memoji
To plan for this with very young children who are new to school I adapted the project in to smaller steps over a couple of weeks to teach the skills for the very first time!
week 1 - Add existing Memoji stickers to Freeform board to create scenes and use drawing tools.
week 2 - create own Memoji in Freeform and write own name with pen tools.
week 3 - edit Memojis to make new stickers
week 4 - make a Memoji mood board (the everyone can create project!)
Taking screenshots of the icons and menus in Freeform and cropping them to print display materials helps to direct children step by step during the teaching. An “I do it then you do it” one step at a time process using Apple TV really helps navigation too!
Today we completed Week 2 and made our own Memojis. Children signed their name with the pen too too.
As the teacher I took screenshots on each device and handed this in to Schoolwork to save their work too. I have uploaded 3 of the screen shot icons that I’ve used for you to download and print too.
happy creating! ❤️😍🤩⭐️

Marc, thanks for sharing the steps that you use with the youngest learners! This is a very fun project and great that all ages of learners can participate in Memoji emotion expression - good for self reflection and self understanding.
