Build Culture and Community with Back to School K-12 Education Activity

Use this activity with the help of Everyone Can Create Photos to set a tone for the culture of your building and/or classroom. This activity can be used with teaching staff and learners using Create Pop Art with an iPad. The versatility of this activity reveals that each person can be creative.

Staff/Adults:

To begin the year, staff will take a photo of themselves and open Create Pop Art from the Apple Learning Center. Options to engage - adults express why they love teaching, list an interest or hobby, or reveal a quality about themselves. This can be posted on or by their door for learners to see. Another option is to have the photos posted in the staff workroom or in the office for parents and the community to view.

Learners:

One activity to set the tone for culture in your classroom or grade level, build community by using individual photos. Open Create Pop Art from the Apple Learning Center and follow the prompts to create. They can personalize their photo using editing features, including drawing and annotating. Here are some 'Next Level' ideas:

  1. Color Personality Survey - learners can add their color personality to the photo to inform people of their learning style
  2. About Me - Learners can add interesting facts about themselves on the photo
  3. Post photos of the class or grade level on a wall to provide a visual of their community
  4. Once the photo is completed, learners can upload the image to an augmented reality (AR) application. They can then explain the photo within the AR application.

What a fun idea to have teachers create their pop art and post it at their door! I think it's great for students to see teachers create too.

Agree Jennifer - super idea to have a pop art door post. And then encourage students to create their own as an introduction to class.
