To showcase student understanding of the water cycle, we used the StopMotion app whereby students illustrated a landscape scene on an A4 sheet of paper, before drawing separate moving parts to demonstrate how water moves through the water cycle. The moving parts illustrations consisted of water vapour, clouds and raindrops/snowflakes - some students chose to use loose parts for extra creativity. Students used their knowledge and understanding of key technical vocabulary terms (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, run-off) to guide them through the cycle as they took photos on the StopMotion app. They then used the audio record function in iMovie to record their explanation of how water moves through its cycle. This audio recording was recorded as they viewed their Stop Motion animation in iMovie and then dropped the recording into their movie.
