Unlocking Creativity in the Classroom with Sketches School and Digital Art

How would you help Kupe reach Te Wheke faster? That was the challenge for our five-year-olds today and their creative ideas took flight! From a flying waka and rocket booster shoes to a taniwha tracker and cloud-running sandals, students stretched their imaginations to invent new and different ways for Kupe to travel. Using the Sketches School app, students learnt to use the paint roller tool for bold backgrounds and filling shapes, and added fine details with the fine liner pen.

This lesson, blending the traditional story of Kupe and Te Wheke with digital art, sparked creative thinking...each idea a fresh take on problem-solving. It was great to see how digital tools supported their ability to explore and express original ideas, bringing their imaginative ideas to life.
