Add a transition. Switch to the Transitions tab in the browser. Skim over any of the transition thumbnails to preview them.
Drag the cross‑dissolve transition between two clips in the timeline. Press the Space bar to play your movie and see the transition applied to your clips.
Change the duration. Double‑click the transition you want to change. Type a number of seconds into the Duration field, then click Apply.
Change the style of a transition. In the browser, find a new transition you want to use, then drag it over an existing transition icon in the timeline to replace it.
Remove a transition. Select the transition you want to remove, then press the Delete key.
Start your movie with a fade‑in or end it with a fade‑out. Click Settings in the upper‑right corner of the timeline, then check the “Fade in from black” or “Fade out to black” checkbox.
Modify transitions to help tell your story. Choose transition styles to complement a story line, for example, use cross‑dissolve to signify the passing of time.
Use transitions in an instructional video to show the change from one topic to the next. Let your audience know when your movie ends by turning on “Fade out to black.”
