Make photos move.

When you add a photo to your project, iMovie applies a smooth pan‑and‑zoom motion to it called the Ken Burns effect. Customize the effect to help tell your story, gradually revealing important details or zooming in on the most significant part of an image.

Apply it.

  • Focus attention on a specific detail in a photo. Zoom in on what you’re describing, such as a plant cell, historic building, or story scene.

  • Create a movie from a Keynote presentation of a lesson. Export the presentation as images, then import them into a new movie project.

Go further.

You can save time trimming and adjusting the photos you add to a project by changing the defaults for photo placement and duration in iMovie settings. Set the precise duration you want for newly added photos, and they’ll be trimmed to that length automatically.
