When you record music, vocals, or sound effects in GarageBand, a graphical representation of your recording — called a region — appears in one of the tracks in Tracks view. You can trim, split, and arrange regions to build songs and other audio projects.
Trim a region. Tap to select the region, then drag the handles on the left or right edges to make it longer or shorter.
Make a precision edit. Touch and hold one of the handles to zoom in when trimming a region.
Move a region. Touch a region to select it, then drag it to the left or right to reposition it.
Split a region. Double-tap a region, then tap Split. Drag the Split marker (with the scissors icon) to where you want the region split, then drag it down.
Adjust the track volume. Drag a track icon to the right to show the track headers. From here you can adjust the track’s volume, or tap Mute button to silence the track or Solo button to listen to the track by itself.
Edit and enhance a recorded interview for added impact. Split the recording into multiple regions and balance volumes between voices before applying audio presets for a desired effect.
Add transitions between sections of a recorded lecture. Split the region into shorter segments and add Apple Loops to indicate the start and end of each topic.
You can make a single track quieter or louder for just a section of your project. Use automation points to dynamically shift the volume of each region as it plays to add fades and other volume adjustments.
