Te Wiki o Te Reo 2024 - Te Reo Māori Picture Dictionary

Kia ora!

This post is first of a collection of resources that will support kaiako(teachers) during Te Wiki o te REo Maori week. This series of resources have been created by the talented kaiako at Rotorua Primary School.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori will take place from the 14th – 21st of September 2024, Māori Language Week celebrates the presentation of the Māori Language Petition to parliament on the 14th September 1972.

Māori Picture dictionary

This activity can be started before Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori week as its intention is to build up a dictionary of key Māori words that your tamariki can learn in engaging and creative ways.

I love using Numbers, it's  a great way to collect images, video, drawings, audio and text - with all the same in-built features as Keynote and Pages!

Download the template to share with your tamariki via Air Drop, Classroom or Classwork.  You can also add your own tabs based on what topics you are learning about in your classroom.

Ngā mihi for sharing Trudi! This will be great for my Year 1s. I might adapt it into English for our ESOL kids too. :)
