Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 2024 - Learning the days of the week

This post is the second in a series of resources designed to support kaiako (teachers) during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. Created by the talented educators at Rotorua Primary School, these resources are intended to benefit kaiako across Aotearoa.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori serves as a reminder of the significance of Te Reo Māori in New Zealand's cultural heritage. It encourages all New Zealanders to embrace and use the language in their daily lives.

Learning the days of the week in Te Reo

With Te wiki o Te Reo Māori approaching here is a fun and simple resource for learning about the days of the week in Māori. This can be incorporated into your daily morning routine or printed out as a display for your class.

Activity Example

Keynote is such a versatile app that can support all learners to record and share their mahi (work). I love that they can use in-built features such as audio to record their voice and the drawing tools to practise writing the words. Such a multi-model and engaging way to reinforce simple Māori Kupu (words)

Download my Keynote and then share it via Classroom, Classwork or simply by airdropping to your tamariki. This resource is editable so you could adapt to months of the year or other key Te Reo Kupu.
