When you add a photo to your project, iMovie applies a smooth pan-and-zoom motion to it called the Ken Burns effect. Customize the effect to help tell your story, gradually revealing important details or zooming in on the most significant part of an image.
Add a photo. In the media browser, select the photo you want to use, then tap Add Media button to add it to the timeline.
Customize the Ken Burns effect. Select the photo in the timeline. Tap Go to Beginning button in the viewer, then pinch or drag the image in the viewer to set the way the photo is framed at the beginning.
Tap Go to End button, then pinch or drag the image to set the way the photo is framed at the end.
Change the speed of the Ken Burns effect. With the photo selected, lengthen or shorten the clip using the yellow trim handles.
Turn off the Ken Burns effect. Tap Ken Burns Enabled in the viewer. Tap Ken Burns Disabled to turn it back on.
Focus attention on a specific detail in a photo. Zoom in on what you’re describing, such as a plant cell, historic building, or story scene.
Create a movie from a Keynote presentation of a lesson. Export the presentation as images, then import them into a new movie project.
You can capture video clips and photos directly into a project by using the built-in iPad camera. Document a classroom activity in real time and have a finished project before the bell rings.
