Speed effects and cinematic filters are powerful tools for making engaging, instructional movies. Speed up or slow down a clip to reveal detail, add freeze frames to highlight key moments, and use filters to create a mood.
Add a slow-motion or fast-motion effect. Select the clip in the timeline, then tap Speed button. In the inspector, drag the slider right to speed up the clip or left to slow it down.
Adjust when the effect begins and ends. Drag the yellow range handles that appear on the clip.
Create a freeze frame. Position the playhead over the frame of the clip that you want to freeze. Select the clip, tap Speed button, then tap Freeze.
Add a video filter. Select a clip in the timeline, tap Filter button, then tap a filter. Drag the slider to change the filter intensity.
Apply a filter to all clips in a project. Tap Project Settings button, then select a project filter.
Grab viewer attention at a special moment in an archival film clip. Add a freeze frame at an important moment or at a point that requires contemplation.
Make a long process move quickly onscreen to highlight change over time. Speed up a clip of the setup of a school event or science experiment.
Turn on “Speed changes pitch” in project settings. This makes the pitch of recorded voices higher when clips are sped up or lower when they’re slowed down.
