The Photos app includes powerful tools for enhancing your photos and keeping all your pictures and videos organized in a single, searchable library. Create a photo album of student work or collect videos of science experiments.
Add a photo to the library. Open the Photos app. Drag a photo from the Finder to the Photos window to import it.
Crop and straighten. Double‑click a thumbnail in the Photos browser to open it. Click Edit, then click the Crop button in the toolbar. Drag the Straighten, Vertical, or Horizontal sliders to adjust the angle of the photo.
Enhance the photo. Click the Auto Enhance button in the toolbar to automatically optimize color balance and lighting in the photo.
Add text or callouts. Click Edit, then click the Extensions button and choose Markup. Use any of the Markup tools to draw on the photo or add other graphical elements. Click Save Changes, then click Done.
Open a video clip. In the sidebar, click the triangle next to Media Types, then click Videos to see all the videos in your library. Double‑click a video to open it.
Trim a video clip. Click Edit, then click Adjust in the top bar. Drag the trim handle at either end to shorten the clip. Click Done, then click Save Video or Save Video as New Clip.
Make a collection of instructional videos and organize them into separate albums for each subject or grade level.
Use Markup to add text or shapes to a photo of a science project or experiment to label parts or clarify instructional concepts.
Use the more advanced editing tools in Photos to retouch and improve the quality of your photos. Controls like Exposure, Brilliance, White Balance, and Levels can help you rescue poorly exposed shots and transform the look of your photos.
