Snap a screenshot of what’s on your screen and use Markup to highlight important elements. Use AirDrop to share a video recording of your screen with nearby colleagues, or save screenshots to Photos so you can integrate them into learning projects.
Open Screenshot. Press Shift‑Command‑5 to see onscreen controls.
Capture your screen. Click Capture Entire Screen , then click Capture. A thumbnail of the screenshot appears in the lower‑right corner of your screen for several seconds.
Mark up the screenshot. Immediately after capturing the screen, click the thumbnail to open the screenshot. Use the Markup tools to add text, arrows, or other shapes to the screenshot, then click Done. The screenshot is saved to your desktop.
Record your screen. Open the Screenshot controls and click Record Entire Screen , then click Record. To stop recording, click the Stop Recording button in the menu bar.
Trim the screen recording. Immediately after recording the screen, click the thumbnail to open the recording. Click Trim , drag the yellow trim handles to adjust the length of the clip, then click Done.
Share what you captured. In the Finder, choose Go , AirDrop. Drag the screenshot or recording to a colleague whose name appears in the AirDrop window.
Go on an aerial scavenger hunt in a major city with Maps and take screenshots of what you find. Use Magnifier and other Markup tools to highlight points of interest.
Identify and share specific elements from a webpage. Snap a screenshot, use Magnifier, arrows, and text tools to draw attention to relevant details, then share the image using AirDrop.
Use Screenshot to capture a specific app window or even just a selected portion of it. Press Shift‑Command‑5, then choose from the various options to customize your screen capture.
