Built‑in multitasking features help you work more efficiently. Quickly switch between apps or view them side by side so you can take notes while exploring the web. Or drag links, photos, and more from one document to another.
Switch apps quickly. Press and hold the Command key and press the Tab key to open App Switcher. Press Tab again to switch to other open apps, then release Command.
Go full screen. In the top‑left corner of the Safari window, click the Full‑Screen button or press Control‑Command‑F.
Swipe between apps. Open Pages, click the Full‑Screen button , swipe left or right with four fingers on your Multi‑Touch trackpad, or with two fingers on your Magic Mouse.
Use Mission Control to reveal all desktop spaces and apps currently running in full‑screen mode. Swipe up with three fingers on your trackpad or double‑tap your Magic Mouse with two fingers to reveal the Spaces bar. Switch to an app by clicking it.
View two apps in Split View. Open the Notes app, then Photos. Move the pointer over the Full‑Screen button in the top‑left corner of the Photos window, then choose Tile Window to Left of Screen. Click the Notes window. The two apps appear side by side in full‑screen view.
Exit Split View. Move the pointer to the top of the screen, then click the Full‑Screen button in the top‑left corner on either window.
Reduce a cluttered screen by opening Mission Control. See all open windows and sort open student assignments in separate full‑screen spaces.
Research the history of a landmark. Compare and contrast past and present views using Split View with Maps and Safari.
Expand your screen space with your iPad and Sidecar. Connect your iPad with a cable or wirelessly to extend or mirror your desktop, and access Touch Bar controls, even if your Mac doesn’t have a Touch Bar.
